Hawaii

Here is a photo that I took in Hawaii for you all. Thank goodness my phone could take a panorama. Love that I could capture the whole view in one photo.

I'm Just A Girl Who Can't Say No.......

So here it is folks. I lied today. I knew that it was wrong and before I could stop myself, I just blurted it out. It would have been totally acceptable to tell the truth and they would have understood, but sometimes things just get blurted out before you can real them back in.

So here is the run down. As I was leaving my apartment this morning I thought to myself for two seconds that I should make a lunch. Since I hadn't been to the grocery store for a week or so and had been home all weekend for General Conference, I didn't bother to go to the grocery store to get food for this week. I caved and decided that I would just buy lunch at work today.

At work, I realized that I had a free pizza from Pizza Hut that I could use. So I ordered a cheese pizza from the creepy cashier guy that has been known to previously stalk girls in my office. To my luck, I had to wait for the pizza to bake. As I was waiting, another guy came over to talk to me. I recognized him as one of my students that comes into my office that me and my co-workers assist. We started a conversation. The conversation started out something like this.....

Boy: "So it looks like it is a pizza day."
Me: "Yep, that it is."
Boy: "Well, I was just getting a tuna foot long from Subway and saw you over here. Do you remember my name?"
Me: "Yeah," and I proceeded to tell him what it was.

In my mind the thoughts go like this. Tuna? Really? You trust someone to make a decent tuna sandwich? That is the last thing I would trust someone with. Also, what is he really after? Oh yeah his file is in the problem section at work. I know exactly what he is going to ask me now and I know what he needs to do to get out of the problem section. Here is the next thing he says.

Boy: "Hey, want to get a Jamba sometime.......by the way, what's your name again?"

I swear that that was the farthest thing that I was expecting and before I knew it I blurted things right out.

Me: "Sorry, I can't."

Thinking end of conversation, right?

Boy: "Why you dating someone?"

I should have seen that one coming. This is where a normal person would tell the truth right instead of burying themselves deeper right?

Me: "Kind of....."

Boy: "Kind of means that you are still looking."

Me: "Well we are pretty much to that point, but just haven't made it official yet. Thanks for asking though."

Boy: "Okay, well it was nice running into you."

I still had to wait for my pizza and he had gone back to his table. I didn't want to be rude and text somebody my story because I would be afraid to hurt his feelings more. So what do you do while waiting for your pizza that is taking forever and a day to make.

I'm just a girl who can't say no. It would have been so much easier to say that I don't go on date with students that I help. Instead of lying about how I am dating someone, even though I clearly am not. I have talked to guys about how to best turn down a guy and they always say that guys like it to them straight. It will hurt for a bit, but they get over it soon. As a girl, its hard to say no out right because I don't want to hurt their feelings. I lied and I feel horrible, but it made for an eventful lunch.

Hidden Talent

So first off, I would like to share a hidden talent of my friend Alicia. When I first experienced her talent, I was running on the track at the Orem Rec Center. Now for those of you who have not been on their track, let's just say that you hear every noise because it echos.

So while running my laps that night, I ran into Alicia and Tacy. Thought to myself, why not stop running and just walk with them? Glad that I did! So Alicia decided to share her talent with the world that night. She runs in-front of Tacy and I because she was too embarrassed for us to see. Thinking to myself, this girl is just going to bust out some amazing gymnastic move why wouldn't she want us to look at her. Silly Alicia.........but what hit me next honestly sounded like it was coming out of the PA system. It was so good that I had to record her doing it again where it wasn't as loud and so that I could send it to Amanda, who had the nerve to go to Disneyland without me. Enjoy the hidden talent of Alica. I know I did!

So little to my knowledge, when I sent that to Amanda, she was in line for the Matherhorn. Perfect right? Thanks Alicia for making my night that night and continuing to provide the enjoyment with the recording on my phone.

As far as tonight goes, it was pretty epic. So Shannon was going to go up to Energy Solutions to buy Jazz tickets and I was going to go with her. As I was leaving for work this morning, I thought that I should just take my gym clothes just in case we didn't go, but didn't want to try to pull everything together. So the gym clothes stayed behind. While at work, Shannon turned to me to state that there had been a change in plans. I knew I should have packed those gym clothes! Alas, we made other plans. Shannon had the genius idea that we should go through the drive through at JCW's then take it back to my apartment and watch a movie while making a paper chain as a countdown to Hawaii.  We actually ran to my apartment to pick up my roommate Emily and then headed back to JCW's. With Emily in tow, we decided that it would be better to go inside to eat our meal. Never fear, the snickers shake was there!

We ordered our food and took our numbers back to the table. Now for those of you who really know me, I have this bad habit of when I am tired, the world just gets really funny. Don't worry, it was triggered by my number which was 96. 96 is a funny number. It's almost like a palindrome. Only instead of it being the same word backwards, it's the same number upside down. Funny right? This only goes to show you that I am still in the same crazy mood. So one thing led to another, snickers shake was delivered to me while I waited for the hamburger. The guy who brought us the food, took my number away really fast. Honestly, I was not being rowdy at JCW's! There was no need to take my number away! Then Emily's food came, and then the guy brought me my food after he had delivered Shannon's shake. Me being me, informed him that I didn't have a number anymore and that I was still waiting for my hamburger like Shannon was but she still had a number. But not to worry, I had a picture of my number so he would know it was my food. Don't worry, he knew we were just joking around and not trying to give him a bad time. We were not one of those annoying people.  Seriously!

So he delivered my hamburger, and made a funny remark. This is what he said, "Well, because you have a picture of your number, then I should take a picture of your food and deliver you the picture!" It was pretty good and he walked away to grab Shannon's food. He came back and I wanted to make sure that Shannon turned in her number. So I naturally say, "Shannon! Give him your number!" He grabs the number and started to walk away. As he was walking away you hear from him, "If only....." We busted out laughing because that was not what we were expecting. Shannon did think that he was pretty cute, but alas, no number was given out tonight. Were we annoying? Probably yes, like annoying teeny boppers, but it was hilarious. We finished our food and then came back to my apartment to make the paper chain. See? Shannon did an amazing job showing off her chain. One day at a time and the chain will get smaller.

Looking for Torture?

So as some of you might recall from last year, my then supervisor, somehow worked some crazy magic and convinced me to "participate" in Lent with her. She is a devote Catholic and every year since she could remember, she has given up sweets. It kind of stinks for her because her birthday is in March and she loves chocolate. Alas, she is one the the greatest people that I know and I find myself so privileged that I got to work with her for awhile. So last year about this time, I found myself preparing to give up chocolate. Now for those of you that know me, I-LOVE-CHOCOLATE! It is honestly the best thing alive especially this time of year too. Not for Valentines day people! Come on. The only truly amazing thing about Valentines day is that the Easter candy is in full swing and "let's be honest" (yes, I threw that in there because it is one of the greatest lines from "Pitch Perfect") Cadbury makes some of the best things alive! The Cadbury Mini Eggs and the Cream Eggs. You do not even want to know the stock pile that I built up in my parents freezer last year due to my not eating chocolate.

So with Shannon and I going to Hawaii, we have decided to put into effect "Operation Big Kahoona" as our friend Bonnie refers to it. It's more of a plan to just get more physically fit, but hey when you are going to Hawaii, who knows what hot surfer or native islander a girl could find. ;) This week we have attempted to make it to the gym everyday, but life just seems to happen sometimes or better offers come along. So this is where I got thinking, why not participate in Lent again?

I convinced Shannon to participate in Lent with me, but instead of just giving up chocolate, I am going all out this year and giving up all sweet treats too. I have less than a week now to say a temporary farewell to my love of M&M's, Harbo Mini Gummy Frogs, Snickers, and even the Peeps that people find disgusting. As hard as it will be, I am excited. I never thought that I could actually give up chocolate for 47 days last year and came super close to sneaking chocolate, but I made it. As tough as it will be this year.......I can do it too! So next Tuesday night before I say goodbye to my sweets, I will be at JCW's eating what I seriously love.......a snickers shake. I tell you, there is magic in a snickers shake from there. It makes everything better.

So here are some photos because photos in blog posts just make everything better.  So Judy might kill me, but she was such a fun lady to have as a supervisor and I really am missing not working with her. I have a great office and amazing co-workers where I am at now. Also, I know my job is where I should be and it will give me experience and help me to know if I really do want to pursue a Masters in counseling for High Schools or Jr. Highs for someday down the road. But let's just say that I miss my partners in crime. I miss the pranks that we would always play.

Don't worry, Judy seriously loves her aliens and they are still in her office. Yes, I had the genius idea of freezing one in water last year like Hans Solo. Judy was really upset about that one.
I miss going on random "get birthday decoration" runs with Amanda. Sure, I see her every day on my lunch break, but it's not the same! Oh well, we still manage to get into mischief when we are together.

And ever since I re-dyed my hair last June, I have been toying with the idea of do I re-dying it again. I love it darker, but then I miss it blonder too and my natural highlights that come out in the summer. Votes? Keep it light or go dark again? Don't worry, I love to cheese-ball it up in photos that my mother insists on taking.....can you tell? I can! Love you Mom! :)

Shannon's Family Shoot

Okay, I know that this is a little late, but Shannon had the great idea to let me take family photos for her back in December. It was a really cold day so we didn't stay to get tons of photos, but here are some of my favorites. I can't wait for the warmer months to come so I can take my camera out again and do some more photo shoots. I am grateful for her family putting up with me as I learn tricks about my camera.
